Microsoft has released eScrum, a mix of a web application and a process template for Team Foundation Server that together can be used to manage projects using Scrum.
I still haven't finish my evaluation, since i still haven't been able to finish the installation of the web application (it uses the Ajax Control toolkit. It is binded to an older version, and still haven't been able to make it work with the latest version).
The process template designers have taken a different direction (not significant, but it is interesting to watch the path taken) for the Work Items definitions when compared to Scrum for Team System.
It also has less reports than Scrum for Team System. I'm also a little curious what the web application does and why it is needed, why it's designers felt that some things needed to be done outside Team Foundation Server.
Let's see if this is a contender for Conchango's Scrum for Team System process template, will it be worth the change? We are using Scrum for Team System, since it has been publicly released and we are quite happy with it.
Let's hope i can find more free time to evaluate eScrum.
This is the overview as provided in Microsoft site:
eScrum is a Web-based, end-to-end project management tool for Scrum built on the Microsoft Visual Studio Team Foundation Server platform. It provides multiple ways to interact with your Scrum project: eScrum Web-based UI, Team Explorer, and Excel or Project, via Team Foundation Office Integration. In addition, it provides a single place for all Scrum artifacts such as product backlog, sprint backlog, task management, retrospective, and reports with built-in context sensitive help.
you can download it here
According to Adam this is the process template used internally by Microsoft fro Scrum projects.
